Talent, Passion, and Professionalism
Teacher, facilitator, and performer, Deke Kincade brings chops, groove, and an infectious, spirited energy to
every event performance, and instructional class.  He explores the connection between rhythm, song, and spirit calling upon musical roots
that embrace a rich variety of cultures and traditions.

Performing from New York to Atlanta, he is honored to have shared the stage with artists as diverse as Buddy Guy, Commander Cody, The
Rascals, Asleep at the Wheel, Loretta Lynn, The Drifters, Electric Light Orchestra, Earl Scruggs, Smokey Robinson, and Jerry Lee Lewis.  He
has facilitated drumming events for five people as well as at events with more than 200 participants.   All ages and levels have benefited
from group and private instruction with him.  He is very proud of the accomplishments of all the people and organizations that he has helped
to 'get rhythm'.  Below is an overview of some of his personal, collaborative, and community work.

Facilitation
Through Deke Kincade Rhythm, he has facilitated drum circles and rhythm workshops since 1996.  Community organizations, students at
all levels, corporate teams, active adults, seniors in healthcare settings, Alzheimer's residents, people with Parkinson's disease, and kids
with Autism and other challenges have all experienced Rhythm.  His mission is to celebrate the intrinsic worth and dignity of all participants,
while creating unity, building teams, and enhancing spirit through the power of rhythm and music.

Combining metaphor, rhythmic games, voice, movement, and drumming, he facilitates within an environment which is totally experiential,
inclusive, and always lots of fun.  He inspires a diverse range of people and groups to fully participate in their own spirit of community as
personal and cultural barriers disappear.  Encouraging participants to reach beyond expectations by trying something new, they begin to
think about existing challenges in a different way.

His patience, skill, and insight as a facilitator ensures the fun and pleasure of each event is accessible to everyone present - even the most
rhythmically challenged.  Operating on the premise that people perform better in their daily lives when they are happy, he creates a safe and
fun setting where enthusiastic participation is easy and natural.  With subtlety and humor, he  incorporates the 'Delightfully Reasonable
Universal Method' (DRUM), effortlessly integrating its four basic parameters into the event so that everyone achieves success while they
have a great time.

Selected Deke Kiincade Rhythm clients include Slippery Rock University, Pittsburgh Technical Institute, Every Child Retreats (Human
Services), Lily Dale Assembly, HCR Manor Care, and Riverbeat.

forming in 1994.  Their live CD "Who's Otis" was produced by David Granati (G Force) in 1997.  "Friends & Influence" (2005) was produced by
Dave Hanner (Corbin/Hanner).  Black Cat Otis was also featured on “Blues From the ‘Burgh” (NPR 1998).  They have opened for the best in
the industry including Dr. John, Charles Brown, Little Charlie and the Nightcats, Wolfman Washington, and Buddy Guy.  Selected

Tribute to Andy Stewart: It's all in the Song" (2006).  Guaranteed Irish performs in pubs, private events, and festivals throughout the Northeast.

With Pure Gold five years, he performed classic rhythm & blues regularly on shows with Motown greats including The Four Tops, the
Temptations, and Smokey Robinson.   At annual Roots of Rock & Roll shows at Pittsburgh's historic Benedum Center for the Performing
Arts, he backed all performers on drums including Little Anthony & the Imperials, The Shirelles, and The Cadillacs.  Other Pennsylvania

many national commercial accounts including "Kennywood Park" with Freddie 'Boom Boom' Cannon (Palisades Park).  As songwriters, Bob
Corbin and Dave Hanner have penned songs recorded by many of the greats of country music including The Oak Ridge Boys, Alabama,
Kenny Rogers, Mel Tillis, and Don Williams.

As session drummer at Jeree's Studio (New Brighton, PA) for more than 15 years, he backed the majority of Jeree’s clients.  He recorded
tracks regularly with songwriter, Joe Rock who penned ''Since I Don't Have You" and "This I Swear" (The Skyliners) and "I've Got Dreams to
Remember" (Otis Redding).

Instruction
Students of all ages and levels continue to study on the drum kit and hand drum with him.  Using a drum pad to teach the important
rudiments of kit drumming, he shares experience, understanding, and excitement with all of his students.  These students are then able to
transfer their basic skills to the kit with confidence.

He is very proud of all of his students and the individual goals they achieve.  He mentors students with established objectives of reaching
advanced tracks and leadership roles in school music programs as well as those with equally important goals such as playing for personal
enjoyment or professionally with other musicians.  He encourages all students to have fun with music and drumming and then to share their
experience with others.  Adult students on kit include beginners as well as accomplished professionals.

Focusing on the djembe and accessory percussion, he teaches hand drumming in both private and group settings.  For both kit and hand
drumming students, discussion about the significance and influence of rhythm is included.  An extensive collection of appropriate
instruments is available for class, giving students significant insight into the diversity of rhythm.  In all cases, musical goals and objectives
are defined with the student, ensuring a satisfying and productive experience.

Service
He  is founder of the Treehouse Foundation which provides grants in support of creative play for kids in his home county in Pennsylvania.  In
1999 he was commissioned to provide an original song in honor of the county's bicentennial celebration in 2000.  "This Place Where I
Come", written for the celebration, was co-written with Dave Hanner.

Mentors
He is a graduate of Arthur Hull's Rhythm Playshops in California and Maryland as well as Village Music Circle's (VMC) East Coast
Facilitator Workshop.  He has also studied with Mamady Keita (Guinea), Don Davidson and Heather MacTavish (VMC), Elie Kihonia
(Democratic Republic of Congo & Africa Yetu), Tina Blaine (Carnegie Mellon University Entertainment Technology Center), Timothy K.
Adams, Jr. (Pittsburgh Symphony) and Jim Donovan (Saint Francis University & Rusted Root).

Equipment
His equipment includes DW and vintage kits, more than 75 hand drums, assorted percussion instruments, a Roland Hand Sonic (digital
percussion), and vocal mics.  His hand made djembe is crafted in Senegal.  These West African drums are available by special order.
